Ernst wins Q4 safety contest
In November, Oregon Electric Group announced its winner for the latest safety innovation contest. This quarters goal was to prevent all falls, by process and/or by product. Scott Ernst, OEG General Foreman was the winner out of 16 applications. His submission was a device that can be attached to a job ladder at the 6' warning height that, when stepped on, would alert the tradesmen that they are at an elevation that policy requires additional safety precautions. His idea was then made into a prototype and presented at Skanska's Top 40 Fall Prevention Contest. All participants received recognition and prizes for their efforts.

OEG celebrates golden anniversary
This December, Oregon Electric Group celebrated its 50th year of incorporation. Established in 1947, OEG was incorporated in Oregon in 1958.

...Because no one should go hungry
When times get tough and wallets get tight, we tend to forget about our local charities. OEG recognized 2008 as being a crucial year to support Oregon Food Bank and stepped up its efforts to fundraise and donate. The OFB has been flooded with requests for donations, more families than ever are at risk of going hungry during our current economy. This year, OEG raised funds from a dunk tank event at the company picnic, employees donated over 30 company holiday hams, donations were made in the names of our clients and business partners in leiu of holiday gifts, and the holiday food barrells have been overflowing. Our total contribution to Oregon Food Bank will provide enough food for ____ families.
New Hires and Promotions
In an effort to further diversify the industry, OEG annually supports an exhibit at the Women in Trades Career Fair. Employees volunteer time to promote different positions women can fill in the electrical fi eld, from every craft level to project management.
OEG also sponsors employees in events, such as: LiveStrong Challenge, Habitat for Humanity, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Walk for CysticFibrosis, Hood-to-Coast, and the Oregon Air Show.
