Sajal C. Dutta, MD

Specialty: General Urology, Prostate Related Surgery

Sajal C. Dutta, MD, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He was drawn to urology by the opportunity to work with a variety of different people.

"Simply stated, it's about the people - colleagues, nurses, office staff and patients," he explains. "Urology allows me to interact with people of varying backgrounds and learn from them. At the same time, I get an unbelievable opportunity to work with the latest technological advances in medicine and use them to help my patients."

Dr. Dutta received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1992 and his medical degree from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, in 1996. He completed his internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1997 and completed his residency in urology at Vanderbilt in June of 2002.

Dr. Dutta is intrigued by all aspects of urology and enjoys the fact that there is always something new to learn. He is particularly interested in prostate related surgery and has conducted research into how specific urologic treatments affect quality of life for patients.

"At The Urology Clinic, we are honest and sincerely try to do our best to take care of our patients," Dr. Dutta says. "We welcome feedback and I encourage patients and peers to let us know how we are doing."

Dr. Dutta believes in his work and believes in the relationships he has established with the people he cares for. He says one of the most rewarding aspects of his practice is sharing in the lives of his patients.

"In addition to providing care, I enjoy hearing about what is important to my patients," he says. "Whether it has to do with their medical condition or with what is going on in their personal lives - I'm interested."

In his free time, Dr. Dutta enjoys running, golf, skiing and USC football.
